Why another attempt at blogging? Why now?

The short answer is that if I don’t find an outlet for my frustrations with the Right, Left, Alt-Right, Real News, Fake News, 24/7 bombardment of reports on the increasing craziness of our world, I will retreat into the world of Grumpy Curmudgeon. And that would ruin my whole Poppi the Jolly Santa gig.

I hope to be able to post thoughts which somehow combine my opinions with neutral, rational, well-reasoned thoughts…aka Common Sense. As Marshall McCluhan wrote:

A point of view can be a dangerous luxury when substituted for insight and understanding.

The real world problem is that I cannot always remain calm and rational when faced with Maximus Ignorantium. NO, try as I may, I’m not sure I always know what Jesus would do! And I KNOW I fall short of the thoughts and actions Jesus and other great moralists and philosophers would posit.

So readers are warned. Despite my best intentions to explore the current asylum conditions in our world with thoughtful feedback and patience, I reserve the right to swerve off the road. Sometimes common sense is found in the weeds, off the beaten path, and espoused by the unlikeliest of sources. A man I encountered with an 8th-grade education and address under a bridge on I-30 spoke like the Dali Lama.

So here is the ultimate benchmark that marks my approach to Common Sense Dilemmas. Ultimately my opinions, viewpoints and courses of action must align with my personal, actual life experiences.
